Bulldogs skipper Marcus Bontempelli has moved into second place in the 2023 AFLCA Champion Player of the Year after four rounds.

Bontempelli has scored 19 out of a possible 20 votes from the coaches in the last two weeks, backing up his perfect 10 against Brisbane with a nine-vote effort against Richmond.

He has racked up 23 votes in the first four rounds, to be two votes behind Collingwood’s Nick Daicos, and one ahead of West Coast’s Tim Kelly.

Bontempelli claimed the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award in 2019.

In the gritty win over the Tigers, Tim English collected eight votes, while Tom Liberatore (four votes), Caleb Daniel (three) and Bailey Dale (two) were also recognised.
