The VFLW Bulldogs have registered their first win in 18 months, defeating North Melbourne by 39 points in a Good Friday clash at ETU Stadium.
The Bulldogs were hot out of the blocks early and led from start to finish in the 8.6 (54) to 2.3 (15) affair, booting their third-highest score since the start of the 2021 season.
It marks their first victory since Round 14, 2021.
AFLW recruit Brianna McFarlane was impactful in the opening term, nailing three set shots to give her side a handy buffer.
Kate McCarthy, Dominique Carbone and Mali McLeod all got involved too, before North Melbourne ended the run of six straight red ,white and blue majors midway through the second.
The Bulldogs continued to impress in the third term, before a tightly-contested final quarter that saw the ball travel between the arcs without a major score.
Thankfully however, the Dogs’ early efforts were more than enough to seal the victory.
Tahlia Meier led the stats sheet with 18 touches, five clearances and four tackles, while senior-listed Bulldog Dominique Carruthers collected nine disposals and three marks in her first outing.
Carbone and Sarah Skinner were strong in the middle, winning eight and six clearances respectively, while McFarlane, Amanda Ling and Imahra Cameron all took five marks each.
The Bulldogs’ next challenge will come against Port Melbourne on Saturday 15 April, back at ETU Stadium.
