Ed Richards will remain a Bulldog until at least the end of the 2025 season after signing a two-year contract extension at the Kennel.

Taken with Pick 16 in the 2017 National Draft, Richards has played 88 games in the red, white and blue across six seasons.

The contract extension is due reward for the 23-year-old, who enjoyed a career-best 2022 season - averaging 18 disposals, six marks and four rebounds. 

Missing just one game last season, Richards claimed the Tony Liberatore Most Improved Player Award and finished 10^th at the Charles Sutton Medal.

“In the end, it was a pretty easy decision to re-sign with the Bulldogs,” Richards said.

“I’m really enjoying my footy at the moment, I love being part of such a close group that is keen for success as well as the great support that we receive from everyone inside the Club.”

“Being able to cement my spot in the 22 has been a great step forward for my game and I want to continue to improve to help this team get the best possible success over the next two seasons.

“We’re on the verge of an exciting period for the Club, both on and off field, and I want to be around to contribute as best I can.”

Bulldogs’ GM of List Management and Recruiting, Sam Power, was pleased to lock in Richards for another two seasons.

“Ed has developed his game significantly over the past few seasons, becoming a crucial and dependable player within our squad.”

The Bulldogs have re-signed a number of key players this month, including Tom Liberatore and Sam Darcy.
