Brisbane Lions ruckman Trent West has been ruled out of Saturday’s clash with the Western Bulldogs, after scans today confirmed a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.
The 26-year-old endured the knee injury during the Lions round 11 win against Carlton and will see him restricted to the sidelines for an extended period of time.
Lions General Manager – Football Operations Dean Warren said the injury will force the club to draw on their ruck depth when the face the Bulldogs this weekend.
“Trent has been a fantastic pick up for us this season, shouldering the majority of the Ruck duties in the absence of Matthew Leuenberger,” Warren said.
“With both Trent and Matthew out of the side we will look to the likes of Stefan Martin and Rookie, Archie Smith, as candidates to fill that ruckman role.”
Whoever is selected will face Will Minson on Saturday, with the Bulldogs ruckman currently ranked second in the competition for hitouts.
