The Western Bulldogs have kicked off their 2019 VFLW campaign in the best possible way, with a 47-point win against western-suburbs rivals Williamstown at Downer Oval.
A six-goal to none second half saw the Bulldogs kick away to a convincing win, with captain Mickayla Ward finishing with four goals for the match, three of which came in the third term.

Kicking the first two goals of the game through Ward and Mary Sandral, the Bulldogs restricted the home-side to two behinds in the opening term, to take a 15-point lead at the first change.
It was in the second quarter that Williamstown kicked their solitary goal, while restricting the visitors to just one behind. From that point on, however, it was all Bulldogs.
Despite not capitalising on opportunities in front of goal in the second quarter, the Bulldogs came out firing in the third, kicking five goals straight to extend their advantage to 40-points at three-quarter time.
The visitors added a further goal in the final term to run out victors, 8.8 (56) to 1.3 (9).
The Bulldogs will look to continue their winning ways next Saturday 25 May, when they host Melbourne University at Victoria University Whitten Oval, with the first bounce at 4:30pm.
