Western Bulldogs senior coach Luke Beveridge is confident his team can turn the season around tomorrow night against Brisbane.
Despite suffering losses to Melbourne and St Kilda in the opening two rounds, Beveridge said as surprising as the results have been, there is time to rectify.
“It has been a real surprise - we just haven’t been able to play the quarters out in the phases as long as we absolutely believe we could,” Beveridge told media on Wednesday morning.
“We’ve got no concerns that we’re capable of it.
“It’s about striking a balance – making sure our boys have got clarity tomorrow night, and also understanding the pressing need to make sure we give a really strong account of ourselves tomorrow night.
“I think it’s more the nature of the losses that have got everyone up in arms. As much as it’s surprised us to a significant degree, we’ve been here before - where we have a little trough and come out of it pretty quickly.
“I’m really confident that’s going to happen.”
Beveridge said the mood this week has been positive, as the team turned their focus to the Lions.
“One of the real challenges of when you go through these sort of clouds, is making sure you allow them to have clear heads so they can still play with the freedom they need to,” he said.
“The mood is buoyant – the players have got tremendous relationships. I think we’re in as good a state as we ever have been, in our environment and our connections between the players.
“(The players) are feeling it a bit because of their own expectations and obviously the supporters. In a sense, they absolutely feel like we’ve all let our supporter base down.
“We’re looking to atone for that.”
The Bulldogs will host the Lions from 7.20pm tomorrow night at Marvel Stadium.
