Luke Beveridge and Marcus Bontempelli have been at the helm together for nearly a decade and according to Western Bulldogs CEO Ameet Bains, the pair are continuing to inspire and better their leadership each year.
Bains lauded Bontempelli for his ability to continually develop his leadership attributes, driving all aspects of the football department to improve this season.
“His growth over the last three to four years as captain has been the individual attention to detail that he does away from the club combined with the really strong leadership he shows at the club,” Bains said.
“A greater sense of driving the group, pushing the standards and seeking accountability from his teammates and from the football program more broadly has been a big growth area for Marcus.”
“Living those values and the work ethic required of those standards is one thing but also doing it away from the club over this break, ensuring a pursuit of being the best he can be.”
Beveridge, who signed a two-year extension late last year, has attacked the new campaign with enthusiasm and vigour as the Bulldogs look towards sustained success on and off the field.
“Like any leader of any organisation, you’re looking at their ability to lead and get the best out of the people you’re working with,” Bains said
“Coaching the modern game, it’s well documented Bevo is quite a lateral thinker and innovative in the way with which he goes about the things that we do.”
“I think his thirst, energy and hunger in all of that is still very strong. When you put all of those parts together, know that the confidence and faith in him is shared across the playing group, football program and broader club.”
“Taking in all of that, it became a pretty easy one to work through at the end of last year.”
