The AFL has today announced the round one fixtures for the 2023 Smithy’s VFL and rebel VFLW competitions, with both Bulldogs’ outfits to go up against Casey.
In the VFL, Footscray will meet the reigning premiers on its home deck on Saturday 25 March, while the VFLW Bulldogs will host Casey at Mars Stadium on Sunday 26 March.
Due to the redevelopment works at VU Whitten Oval, no VFL or VFLW games will be played at the venue.
The 2023 VFL season will again feature 21 teams from Victoria, NSW and Queensland, and consist of 22 rounds (18 games and four byes).
As announced last year, a VFL Wildcard Round will also be introduced after the end of the home-and-away season, with the teams that finish seventh to 10th to face-off for a spot in the finals series.
The 2023 VFLW season will be contested by 12 teams, with 14 rounds.
All matches in the 2023 Smithy’s VFL and rebel VFLW seasons will be live streamed free via the AFL website (afl.com.au) and AFL Live Official App.
Further rounds of the VFL and VFLW seasons will be announced in due course.
