Here are the games our fans and members can’t miss this campaign.
R1
Melbourne v Western Bulldogs
Saturday 18 March, 7.25pm
MCG
It wouldn’t be round one without a blockbuster Dees and Dogs clash at the home of footy. This Saturday night thriller has all the hallmarks of another classic, two teams vying for more success, with an off-season swap or two in between. Josh Schache and Lachie Hunter both crossed to Melbourne during trade period, while Oskar Baker signed last weekend for the red, white and blue though the SSP period. Expect plenty of spice as per normal with these sides.
R2
Western Bulldogs v St Kilda
Saturday 25 March, 7.25pm
Marvel Stadium
The Bulldogs first home game of the season is always an event not to be missed and a St Kilda clash could open the door for an end-to-end contest. Ross Lyon has become coach of St Kilda, while Brendon Lade has moved from Moorabbin to Whitten Oval as an assistant coach. Zaine Cordy could line up for his former side after being traded in the off-season.
R4
Richmond v Western Bulldogs
Saturday 8 April, 4.35pm
MCG
Saturday afternoon with a big crowd at the MCG… what more could you want? The Dogs normally rise to the occasion and this Melbourne blockbuster shouldn’t be an exception. It will be the battle of two gun midfields, with the arrival of Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper set to take on the likes of Marcus Bontempelli, Jack Macrae and Bailey Smith.
R9
Carlton v Western Bulldogs
Saturday 13 May, 7.30pm
Marvel Stadium
Wherever Carlton play, the navy-blue army seem to follow, setting up an enormous fixture under the roof of Marvel Stadium on Saturday night. Liam Jones is set to play his old side for the first time, coming into the Dogs line-up after a year out of the game. Jones could play on Charlie Curnow or Harry McKay – a matchup not to be missed on game day.
R12
Western Bulldogs v Geelong
Saturday 3 June, 7.25pm
Marvel Stadium
The biggest home clash of the Bulldogs first 15 rounds features the reigning premiers on a Saturday night at the beginning of June. The Cats and Dogs played out a classic last season under the roof and this will be a litmus test for the Dogs against the best. Stars in every section of the ground makes it a must watch for all fans.
