Season in short
It’s no accident that you’ll often find the words ‘ball’ and ‘magnet’ next to Lachie Hunter’s name.
The 21-year-old was nothing if not prolific this season, getting his hands on the footy seemingly at will in 2016.
A more permanent role on the wing saw Hunter produce his best season for the Club yet, winning the Gary Dempsey Medal for third place in the Sutton Medal and being named in the AFLPA's 22under22 team.
Hunter was number one at the Club for disposals, second in marks, third for metres gained, and his 44 disposal performance in round six against North Melbourne was not only a career high but the third highest total recorded in 2016.
Hunter can run all day, and his ranking as the number one uncontested ball winner in the AFL highlight his substantial football IQ.
The stat that mattered
Hunter’s 719 total disposals ranked him sixth overall in the League.

“I got a nice change up onto the wing which was a different role to what I’ve been playing.
“I found my groove there, and it coincided with the team’s rise as well. I’d love to be able to go into the midfield as well, it’d be a nice string to add.”
