“I think we are chasing a premiership like every other club.”

It’s the opening words of Rory Lobb’s journey at the Western Bulldogs and with the acquisition of the key forward, the drive for sustained success remains.

The 29-year-old joins from Fremantle, with the deal coming down to the final moments of the 2022 Continental Tyres Trade Period.

Eventually, Lobb got his wish with senior coach Luke Beveridge a key catalyst behind the move.

"Ever since the first meeting I had with Bevo – I felt like I had a really good connection with him,” Lobb said.

“We feel like we are on the same page. I am really look forward to working with him, playing to my strengths and being able to help this team.

“He showed a lot of faith, saying we are going to get you here. It was always going to be the Bulldogs.”

The prospect of Lobb, Aaron Naughton, Josh Bruce and Jamarra Ugle-Hagan in the forward line should excite Dogs fans, with connection between the group a vital starting point.

“I am hoping to get a really good connection with Naughts and Jamarra,” he said.

“Also with Timmy English, finding that balance with playing ruck and going forward. I am really excited to work with those boys.”

“I really like the way the Dogs move the ball. Being a lead up forward and playing a bit of one-on-one.”

“Just being able to play to my strengths and come hard at the ball with those elite kicks coming off the half back.”

Despite an early exit from the finals series, Lobb sees plenty of positives heading into the 203 campaign.

"Obviously still made finals after having a rough start to the season,” he said.

“Really excited to see where we can go now – there is a lot of young players entering another year of AFL.”

“If I can be that cog in the wheel where I can help those players develop even quicker that would be great.”
