Here are three things that caught our eye from Saturday night’s five-point win over GWS.

1. Ed Richards has become Mr Consistent

Since settling in at half-back, Ed Richards hasn’t missed a beat. The 23-year-old has been a standout all year for the Dogs and again stood up against the Giants. His 24 touches and six marks only tells half the story, with some crunching spoils a feature of his game.

Racking up 574 metres gained, Richards run and carry provided a crucial rebounding assistance in the narrow victory.

2. Bailey Williams finds the big sticks

At a crucial stage of the match where goals were hard to come by, Bailey Williams stepped up in a third quarter burst. Williams running finish and calm set shot pushed the Dogs into gear to open up a four-goal lead. The defender-turned-winger has found a new role within the side and his versatility against came to the fore for the red, white and blue.

3. It’s not over…

With a bit of ‘lady luck’ the Bulldogs remain a live chance of playing in September, but still need plenty to go their way. If Collingwood defeat Carlton and the Dogs get a victory in Tasmania, the red, white and blue should feature in the finals. Anything other than a victory sees it season over for 2022. Plenty on the line for Sunday…
