Western Bulldogs defender Ryan Gardner will be tested ahead of this weekend’s clash against GWS.
The 25-year-old missed Saturday’s Retro Round match against Fremantle with a calf complaint.
“Ryan had some persistent calf tightness in our main session last week,” Head of Sports Medicine, Chris Bell, said.
“We didn’t want to take any risks with Gardy, so he didn’t play.
“We will work through a process this week to decide if he is in line to return to availability.”
Jason Johannisen is another who will be monitored this week.
“In a training drill, JJ got caught in a tackle and injured his ankle,” Bell said.
“We are working around the clock to get JJ back up and going.
“We will confirm his plan as the week progresses.”
While there were no major injury concerns to come out of Saturday’s loss to Fremantle, Buku Khamis received a head knock.
“In the second quarter of the VFL game, Buku received a head knock in a marking contest and developed some low-level concussion symptoms,” Bell said.
“He was removed from the game and will commence in our concussion protocols.
“We will monitor Buku into next week to determine if he is in line to return to playing.”
