Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge says his side knows where it needs to improve after fading in the final quarter against Fremantle on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs were in the contest all night, before a late slip-up as the Dockers kicked four goals to one to claim a 19-point win.
"The most disappointing thing is that we were in a position to win it and we faded in the first two-thirds of that last quarter and they got the upper hand more from us not finishing the game than them pulsing, I felt," Beveridge said.
"The good thing was that we were in the game, but we've got to make sure that particularly our more experienced group can take us across the line and maybe even gap them in that third quarter.
"We're just trying to make sure that complacency never occurs, and we've got a way to go."
Beveridge said despite the result, there were some positive signs to take away from the game – particularly after last week’s loss to Carlton.
“The boys understand what our limitations are, how we’re evolving… the boys wanted to make a stand. They felt last week that we lowered our colours through the midfield,” Beveridge said.
“For a large portion of tonight, I thought Tim English was very good, I thought Ed Richards was quite dynamic and creative up forward, I thought the skipper was back to some of his best defensive work with some of those big spoils and his intercept play.
“There was some good stuff going on, but as we always say, we need 22 players playing four quarters.
“We just didn’t quite get the spread and we didn’t hit the line as strong as we should have.”
Despite the positives, the young Bulldogs need to find a way to add to their two wins for the season – starting on Saturday night against Richmond.
“There’s plenty to be positive about – but we’re two and four, we know we want to be better,” Beveridge said.
“Regardless of what the demographic (of our group) is, we’ve got to make the most of every season and at the moment we feel like we’re not making the most of this one.”
