1. How good is The Bont?
Marcus Bontempelli won’t talk about how good he is.
But we will.
The Bulldogs’ vice-captain was again among the most influential players on the ground on Sunday – as voted by the coaches – to jump to the top of the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year leaderboard.
Bontempelli racked up 35 disposals and led the way with a huge third term to help drag his side back into the contest against the Lions.
He’s having some sort of season.

2. Hang-time Hayden
Hayden Crozier has established a reputation as one of the AFL’s highest flyers.
The defender already has a claim to this season’s Mark of the Year through his huge grab against Collingwood in round four.
But on Sunday, he did it again, running back towards his defensive goal-line to sit on Charlie Cameron’s head and earn another Mark of the Year nomination.
Crozier was again among the Dogs’ best against the Lions, finishing with 11 marks overall and 18 disposals.
3. It’s all on the line
Every week is important. But this week is pivotal.
The Bulldogs were competitive for large periods against the Lions, but ultimately fell short to a team that is just percentage away from top spot on the AFL ladder.
Sitting 10th – just a game and percentage outside the eight – means the Bulldogs need a win against Essendon this week to keep their season alive.
And if they can tidy up a couple of areas against the Bombers, they’ll be every chance.
