Vice-captain Jack Macrae says Sunday’s 32-point win over Essendon was a better example of the Bulldogs’ brand of football.
A seven-goal third-quarter surge helped the Dogs to their third win of the season, despite conceding the final three major scores.
“We attacked the game from the start really strongly, so it was good to get back to showing our best brand of footy,” Macrae said post-match.
“It’s probably still not a full four-quarter performance, but I think you could see (what we were trying to do).
“The even spread we showed is how we want to play.”
Macrae was also impressed by the shared contributions up forward, with 10 individual goalkickers combining for 16.7 (103).
“You want to be flexible – it’d be nice to always have Naughty kicking bags every week, but there’s going to be times where he can’t get on the end of it” he said.
“It was good to see Dunks pop up, and Lachie (McNeil) kicked a few as well. It’s just good to show a bit of variety.”
The Bulldogs will next travel to Adelaide Oval to take on Port Adelaide this Friday night.
