The Western Bulldogs have been defeated by undefeated ladder-leaders Essendon in their Saturday afternoon VFLW clash at VU Whitten Oval.
The visitors were too slick for the home side, with the Bulldogs struggling to register a score until after half-time in the 47-point loss.
The Bulldogs won the clearance count 27-22, but couldn’t capitalise on it as the Bombers recorded more inside 50s (18-42), hit outs (27-29) and marks (50-67).
On the stats sheet, co-vice captain Eliza Morrison was strong with 26 disposals and four tackles, while AFLW-listed Bulldog Brit Gutknecht collected 23 touches, six marks and five tackles.
Lucy Schneider found plenty of the footy once again, with 18 disposals and four tackles.
The Bulldogs’ next challenge will be the Southern Saints at Trevor Barker Beach Oval from 9.45am on Saturday.
