Slick ball movement has been a feature of young Jack Macrae’s game but it’s his work rate and no frills approach to training that has seen him excel at the Bulldogs in his second season.
The 19-year-old has been impressive in his first 25 games but the first round draftee is also mindful that there are plenty of facets of the game still to learn.
“It’s good to build some good form and play consistent footy,” Macrae said.
“Some of the things I’ve been working on pre-season [are] my fitness and confidence with the footy and taking the game on.
“They are the things that I’m trying to work on and bring out in my game every week.”
Macrae’s poise with the ball so far in 2014 indicates his hard work over the pre-season has paid dividends and he has continued to lift his game to a new level in the first 13 rounds.
Macrae said he was looking forward to the interstate trip with his teammates this weekend as they prepare to take on finals fancy Port and build on last Sunday’s win against Collingwood.
“Port Adelaide is not a huge trip, thankfully, but you definitely have to hold to your preparation a little bit and just be on top of a few extra things,” he said.
“It’s good to get away with all of the boys, I really enjoy the interstate trips so I’m looking forward to it.”
