Western Bulldogs leader Taylor Duryea says the group is confident they can turn things around against North Melbourne in the Good Friday SuperClash.

The Bulldogs have been criticised in recent weeks for their inaccuracy in front of goal, slotting 9.17 in the win over Sydney and 7.19 in the loss to Richmond.

Duryea said it’s something the team is definitely working on, as they turn their focus to the Kangaroos on Friday afternoon.

“Sometimes you don’t play your best footy but you still get wins, so you think well we’re lucky to get away with that game – it’s no different here, except we just haven’t got the results we want,” Duryea told Kane Cornes on SEN 1116.

“I think the way we are playing, we’re giving ourselves enough chances and most of the stats if you’re reading the game says we should win - it’s just our polish at times and connection going forward is not where it needs to be.

“Everyone at this level can execute – it’s not like no one is trying, it’s just one of those funny things that goes through a team at any given point.

“In terms of our confidence in our ability to play good footy, we think we’ve got it there. We’ve just got to work out a few things and it should turn for us.”

Off-field, the Bulldogs have spent the week putting some smiles on the kids who are going through tough times at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Duryea recognised the greater importance of the game, and urged everyone to attend the clash if they could.

“Not that you need perspective all the time, but I think this week and the build-up does help us as footballers but people in general too realise how lucky we are,” he said.

“There’s some kids going through some tough times at the moment, but funnily enough they’re the ones with the most positivity and seem to have the best outlook on life. It’s just so refreshing.

“Anything we can do to help raise some money and shed some light on what they’re going through, we’re just happy to play our part.

“Essentially, we just want as many people there as possible to come to the game and donate through ticket sales.”

The first bounce will be at 4.20pm at Marvel Stadium, with $5 from every ticket sold going towards the Appeal, and proceeds from the match-worn guernsey auction going towards the Hospital.
