Ellie Blackburn and Kirsty Lamb have been crowned joint winners of the 2022 Western Bulldogs AFLW Best and Fairest award.

It is back-to-back medals - and a third overall - for Blackburn, (2017, 2021) and a first-time honour for Lamb, who finished runner-up last year.

Both finished the count with 102 votes each.

It caps off an incredible week for Lamb, who also received a maiden All Australian inclusion on Tuesday and was voted the AFLPA’s Most Courageous Player on Wednesday.

Blackburn was at her very best in 2022, averaging a career-high 20.1 possessions and 4.3 tackles.

She also pushed forward on a number of occasions, adding six goals for the year.

Lamb wasn’t far behind, averaging a career-best 18.7 disposals and 3.9 clearances, while also contributing with six goals herself.

The count itself was a thriller, with just one vote separating the two midfielders at the halfway point of the season.

A four-game streak of maximum votes for Lamb from rounds 4-8 helped the 27-year-old to a five-point advantage at the end of round eight, but the reigning Club Champion stormed home, with 23 of a possible 24 votes in her last two games to strike even.

It is the second time in Club history the award has been split, with Blackburn sharing the inaugural honour with Emma Kearney.

Emerging defender Eleanor Brown continued her rise to finish runner-up with 61 votes, while key forward Bonnie Toogood (57) and second-year Bulldog Elisabeth Georgostathis (45) rounding out the top five.

Georgostathis was also named the Best Young Player, while Toogood claimed the Community Award Leading Goalkicker award.

Ruck Celine Moody was recognised as the Most Improved, Isabelle Pritchard took out the Coaches’ Award, Lamb was named the Players’ Player, and also shared the Trainers’ Award with Issy Grant.
