The four points didn’t fall in the Bulldogs favour against the Gold Coast Suns but Senior Assistant Coach Brett Montgomery is confident the players will take heed and learn from the experience.
Trailing by one goal at the main change, Montgomery said the Bulldogs were comfortable with their first half against an in-form Suns outfit and will draw positives from the first two quarters.
“The first half we actually had the game looking pretty reasonable and how we would like to see them play against that opposition,” Montgomery said.
“A lot of the things that we had planned for had sort of come through.”
Dissecting the first half of football will be a priority of the coaching staff this week, with the Bulldogs playing the game on their terms and restricting the Suns to just 44 points.
“From a coaching point of view we will look at the first half really closely, see what we did well against some pretty good opposition that normally kicks 120 plus points a game who are in red hot form,” he said.
Montgomery said preparations leading into next Sunday’s game against Fremantle will not stray from previous weeks, as the Bulldogs strive to find form.
“We won’t deviate too much from what we do, we’ll have a real close look at it,” he said.
