The Western Bulldogs have kept their AFLW finals hopes alive with a dominant 60-point win over West Coast at Optus Stadium.
The Bulldogs still need other results to go their way, however they held up their end of the bargain by registering their fourth win of the season.
It was the second biggest victory in the Club’s AFLW history, behind the 73-point triumph over Carlton in 2018.
The Bulldogs also kept the Eagles to just eight points for the game – the lowest score the team has conceded in its history.
The usual suspects were the architects of the win – skipper Ellie Blackburn finished with 23 touches, while Kirsty Lamb had 20 possessions and eight inside 50s.
The forward line functioned beautifully, with Brooke Lochland booting three goals (the second-highest tally of her career) from 15 disposals, and Nell Morris-Dalton and Bonnie Toogood adding two each.
Defenders Katie Lynch (18 disposals and eight marks) and Eleanor Brown (16 possessions and seven marks) were virtually impassable, while Isabelle Pritchard continued her impressive season with 14 touches and a team-high six tackles.
A free-flowing opening to the game saw plenty of opportunities for both sides, but it was Richelle Cranston who broke the deadlock just before quarter time.
The Bulldogs dominated the second quarter, with goals to Toogood and Lochland extending the margin to 23 points at the main change.
Three more majors in the third stanza put the result beyond doubt, and the Dogs finished in style with four goals in the final quarter.
One of those goals was arguably the highlight of the night, with Deanna Berry registering her first goal since returning from an ACL injury with a brilliant snap from deep in the forward pocket.
The Bulldogs will finish the home-and-away season when they host Brisbane at Mars Stadium in Ballarat next Sunday, in what will be the first AFLW match held at the venue.
