Elisabeth Georgostathis has made a name for herself under the Friday night lights with a breakout performance against the Cats on Friday.

The 20-year-old was dynamic around the contest and was lauded by coach Nathan Burke in his post-match press conference.

“Lizzie was sensational – probably the best game I’ve seen her play,” Burke said.

“She’s always in and under, tackling and winning the footy, that’s just what she does. Tonight she has 23 possessions and kicked a goal – she was amazing.

“She’ll be very high up in the coaches’ votes this week – which will shock Lizzie, she won’t expect that – hopefully she’s pleasantly surprised.”

The victory was the Bulldogs’ third straight win, propelling the side into finals calculations and playing the footy required to make an impact.

“The last three weeks is more the way we want to play the game,” Burke said.

“Tonight, we had 240 possessions, which is a lot for us. We had 54 marks which is probably a record for us.

“We are starting to use the ball the way we want to. If we had played this type of footy early on, we would be talking very differently.”

Despite the challenges faced, Burke has encouraged his side to make the most of four games in 14 days, seeing his side head to the Gold Coast on Tuesday.

“It’s tough but we’ve had four-day breaks before and I’ve challenged the girls to win all four,” he said.

“Four in 14 days for us, with a couple of trips in that. We are halfway through and have to finish off the deal.”

Bonnie Toogood was again the barometer for the Bulldogs, kicking two goals and taking a number of pack marks at crucial stages of the fixture.

“Without Izzy Huntington down there, Bonnie is vital for us,” he said.

“Nell Morris-Dalton is still learning how to play that key forward role and Rocky plays more of a medium small type role rather than a key marking forward.

“Bonnie has been enormous for us every week.”
