Riley Christgoergl will continue as captain of the Western Bulldogs VFLW team.

It will be Christgoergl’s second consecutive season as skipper, after crossing from Old Xaverians in 2019.

A highly-skilled midfielder, the 25-year-old managed five games in 2021 after suffering a concussion in round five.

She was also one of three state-listed players to run around in the AFLW Bulldogs’ practice match against North Melbourne last December.

Christgoergl will be supported by co-vice captains Eliza Morrison and Mary Sandral.

A new addition to the leadership group, Morrison joined the Bulldogs in 2021 after spending the 2019 season with Northern Territory Thunder.

She managed 10 games in her debut season, averaging 13.3 disposals 3.2 tackles, while also featuring in the AFLW practice match alongside Christgoergl.

Sandral has been elevated to the co-vice captaincy, after forming part of the leadership group in 2021.

She represented the red, white and blue on eight occasions last year, to bring her overall tally to 24 games across two seasons.

The VFLW Bulldogs will open their season with a trip to The Hangar, taking on Essendon this Saturday at 12.30pm.

Admission is free, with the match to also be live streamed via the VFL/W YouTube channel.
