Western Bulldogs star Jack Macrae has clinched the Gary Ayres Award for the best finals players as judged by the coaches.

Macrae didn't poll in the Toyota AFL Grand Final, but did enough in the previous three games to seal the award.

He averaged 34 disposals and 5.5 tackles per game in his four finals games.

Caleb Daniel (three votes) and Marcus Bontempelli (one) were the two Bulldogs players to poll votes in the Premiership decider.

Norm Smith medallist Christian Petracca polled a perfect 10 for his performance, while Bayley Fritsch's six goals saw him nab eight votes.

"Well done to Jack, it’s a testament to how well he has played in this finals series but also his consistency all year in a very good midfield group," Ayres said.

For every final, the AFL coaches vote for the best players from their game. The coaches vote for five players, giving them a mark from 1-5. The maximum a player can score is 10 (with five votes from both coaches).
