He’s responsible for some of the most iconic songs associated with Australian Rules Football, and is known as a legend of rock music in this country.
But underneath Mark Seymour’s musical talent beats the heart of a Western Bulldogs tragic.
Seymour, who’s song Holy Grail from Hunters and Collectors has become of the great AFL anthems, joined Bob Murphy in a special Grand Final edition of the Glory Days podcast this week.
The show’s highlight is a rendition of the Mark Seymour & The Undertow song ‘Beside you’, a dedication from Seymour for the Bulldogs players aiming to win their second Premiership in six years, on September 25.
Tune in to hear Seymour talk about his memories of the 2016 finals series, his thoughts on Luke Beveridge, Tom Liberatore, Cody Weightman and Bailey Smith, what he appreciates from the great game of AFL.
Bob and Mark also talk about the origins of Holy Grail, and how it was written about the Kuwait War in 1991, before quickly becoming an iconic sporting tune.
