Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli has been named one of three finalists for the 2021 rebel Goal of the Year.
It was his near-impossible snap against West Coast in Round 15 that earnt him the honour.
With nine minutes remaining in the clash, the skipper snapped the miraculous major through on his favoured left foot, while running towards the boundary line at full steam.
It’s yet another recognition for the 25-year-old this season, who was voted the AFLPA’s Most Valuable Player and Best Captain on Thursday night.
Fans can now view and vote for their favourite goal at goaloftheyear.afl.
After each of the 2021 Toyota AFL Premiership Season's 23 rounds, footy fans voted for their favourite weekly rebel Goal of the Year from a selection of three goals nominated by the AFL Game Analysis Committee.
In addition to the 23 weekly rebel Goal of the Year winners, the AFL Game Analysis Committee could select up to five additional goals from the season to be considered by the AFL All Australian selection committee in determining the season's top three.
Voting for the 2021 rebel Goal of the Year is now open and will close on Friday, September 10 at 10am AEST.
The winner of the 2021 rebel Goal of the Year will be presented with the Phil Manassa Medal at the 2021 Brownlow Medal.
All members of the public that vote and pick a weekly winner in the 2021 rebel Goal of the Year will go into the draw to win $5,000.
