Modern full time AFL footballers are a savvy bunch.
For the likes of high-flying, goalkicking expert Aaron Naughton, dominating on the field is their primary pursuit.
But increasingly, ensuring they set themselves up for the future is an important part of players’ education as they journey through their AFL careers.
These days, for many players at the Western Bulldogs, it’s the world of cryptocurrency which has piqued their interest.
It’s a world becoming more familiar to everyday Australians, and the Dogs have a leg up in knowledge due to their partnership with CoinSpot – Australia’s largest Cryptocurrency Exchange.
CoinSpot became the first ever Premier Partner of an AFL Club when they joined the Bulldogs earlier this year.
Naughton and many of his team-mates have been long-time investors in cryptocurrency.
“There’s plenty of us here. Anthony Scott loves it. Same as ‘JJ’ (Jason Johannisen). They’re all into the digital art as well. There’s a lot of us on it,” Naughton told Triple M’s Rush Hour radio show.
“It’s the future. It’s all digital. It’s almost like buying stocks these days. You’re able to buy and sell and transfer it back to AUD.
“It’s the good thing about it now. It’s not easy for your money to get lost.”
