The Footscray Bulldogs have made their way back onto the winners list, after a four goal performance from Angus Monfries saw the ‘Scray defeat Frankston by 42 points, this Saturday at Victoria University Whitten Oval.
An impressive first half saw the Dogs boot eight majors, including two handy goals from developing ruckman Tim English (nine disposals, six marks), giving the home side a three goal lead at the main break.
A quiet third term saw co-captain Angus Monfries kick his second major, before a powerful fourth quarter saw the ‘Scray push the margin to 42 points, ultimately sealing the win.
Midfield duo Will Hayes (25 disposals, four marks) and Mitch Honeychurch (16 disposals, four tackles) performed well all over the ground, while Shane Biggs (29 disposals, three tackles) and Fletcher Roberts (26 disposals, five marks) proved handy in the back line, keeping Frankston to a goalless fourth term.
Lewis Young (21 disposals, six marks) was particularly influential, booting two goals after a permanent move forward at quarter time, while Andrew Panayi (15 disposals, seven marks) also kicked two majors of his own.
Nathan Mullenger Mc-Hugh (one goal, six tackles) shared ruck duties with Tim English, amassing 39 hit outs between them.
Footscray will take on North Melbourne, next Sunday at Avalon Airport Oval from 2pm.
