Western Bulldogs forward Clay Smith underwent surgery on Thursday night to manage an area of damage to the meniscus of his right knee.

Smith has been suffering ongoing soreness and swelling in the knee, and although it has recently shown signs of improvement, he’s been unable to return to high level training.

A timeline on the 24-year-old’s return will be established over the next week.
