Hitting the scoreboard early will be a key focus for the Western Bulldogs on Sunday, against a strong offensive contingent in the West Coast Eagles.
Outside runner Jason Tutt said early momentum would prevent the Bulldogs from playing catch up and allow them to build on their current form.
“The last couple of weeks we have played some really good footy… our main focus this week will be starting well early,” Tutt said.
“We’ve kind of given teams a bit of a run and then we’ve pegged them back and we just haven’t been able to get quite there.
“If we start well and maybe kick the first couple of goals and we won’t have to play chase up footy.”
Restricting Hawthorn and Essendon’s free flowing play in recent weeks, Tutt said the Bulldogs took confidence out of the last fortnight.
“It just gives the playing group confidence to know that what we have been training and the game style that we’ve got will stack up against those top teams and we’ve proven it in the last couple of weeks,” he said.
“We still haven’t had a win and we are thriving to have that win.
“The way that we want to play is a good brand of footy and we are going to go well with that.”
The Western Bulldogs taken on West Coast Eagles in front of a home crowd on Sunday, scheduled for 3:20pm at Etihad Stadium.
